Explore Mondrook Garden Café and Gallery near Tinonee

A pleasant spot for lunch or morning/ afternoon tea with beautiful gardens and an abundance of ducks and birds.  Just out of Tarree, it is just a short 40 minute drive.

Shop the Taree Antique Trail

Craft and antique shopping at Taree Craft Centre or on the Taree Antiques Trail.  Ask for the Taree and Districts Antique Trail brochure from the Manning Valley Visitors Centre.

Discover the Manning Valley’s art scene

Immerse yourself in the many arts and craft outlets dotted around the Manning Valley’s many seaside and hinterland towns and villages.  Visit The Manning Regional Art Gallery in Taree. Taree is home to the Biennial Taree City Festival in June.

Drive to Kendall, the pretty village named in honour of our famous poet Henry Kendall

You’ll see many interesting and tempting craft shops. You might like to have lunch at the Lorne Valley Macadamia Farm or visit the home of the well-known Norfolk Punch, or take a walk around the town following the Poet’s Walk which is fully signposted. Kendall is half way between Taree and Port Macquarie.

Drive south to Possum Brush Gallery

Worth a visit to Possum Brush Gallery at Taree to view their excellent woodwork, pottery and other artwork- open 10am to 4pm, every day during the school holidays, and Thursday to Sunday at other times of the year.

Visit historic Wingham

Find out about our history or stroll around the town with a heritage listing. Why not have a picnic at Wingham Brush and see amazing fruit bats? Wingham Brush is located on the Manning River at Wingham, 10 minutes west of Taree. You can also walk through the rainforest on the boardwalk. At sunset, thousands of flying foxes emerge in search of food.

Visit Ellenborough Falls for a day outing

If you’re fit enough, walk to the bottom of the falls and climb up again for magnificent waterfall views. There are picnic areas and a kiosk at the falls. Head to Taree from Harrington, travel on Tourist drive eight from Taree, through Wingham and onto Elands.

Picnic at Coorabakh National Park

Have a picnic at Starrs Creek Rainforest, then stroll along the boardwalk. Take in the spectacular views from Flat Rock lookout which is perched on top of a breathtaking 500m drop. If you’re feeling energetic, try the climb to the summit of Big Nellie, 560m above sea level. There are many threatened animal and bird species living throughout the park.  About 45 minutes from Harrington, 25 km north of Taree.

Take a drive to Wauchope

Spend some time strolling around Timbertown- watch the bullock team in action, have a ride in the Cobb and Co coach, ride on the steam train, see the blacksmith, candle makers and glass blowers at work. You can relax over a coffee or a meal at one of the restaurants. Admission to Timbertown is free and you pay for any rides.

Visit Brimbin Nature Reserve

A short drive from Taree for pleasant gentle bushwalks, bird-watching and picnicking.

Bushwalk in Tapin Tops National Park

Worth a visit for its spectacular views from several lookouts and is part of the traditional lands of the local Biripi people. The park is accessed from Dingo Tops Road at Wherrol Flat.  44 km west of Wingham

Cruise to Manning Point or up the river to Taree

Manning Point is just ten minutes by boat or take a more leisurely cruise up the river to Taree.  Contact Manning Point Marine on 02 6553 2683 to arrange an outing on the lovely Manning River.

Wander through the pretty village of Hannam Vale

A short drive from Harrington where the little café serves luscious Devonshire teas (often accompanied by light jazz music on Sunday afternoons), and the views over the hinterland from Hannam Vale Road are beautiful, especially in summer when the flame trees and jacarandas add gorgeous colour.

Take the kids to Ton O Fun on the Lakes Way near Forster.

Try out giant waterslides, ride go-karts, play mini golf and enjoy lots of fun activities. Open 10am-4pm weekends and school holidays.

Fuel your love of motorbikes

Then you must visit The National Motorcycle Museum at Nabiac – open 7 days a week from 9am-4pm – it has over 650 bikes on display and lots of memorabilia.

Taste some of the local wines

Cassegrains is just off the Pacific Highway about 35 minutes drive north of our tourist park, and is open 9am-5pm for cellar door sales and from 10am-3pm for lunch. Long Point Winery is a boutique winery located near Lake Cathie.

Have a whale of time

Have a close encounter with whales and dolphins off Crowdy Head through Crowdy Bay Charters who cater for individual or group charters.
